Two Ways to Zone a House

  • Ducted zoning

Dampers in your existing ducts, one thermostat per zone. Works best with a variable-speed system.

  • Multi-zone ductless

One outdoor unit feeding two to eight indoor heads. No ducts needed. A clean fit for whole homes without ducts.

  • Hybrid

Central system for the main floor, ductless heads for an addition, loft or ADU.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about HVAC installation.

01Can I add zoning to my existing system?

Often yes, if the ducts are in decent shape. Single-stage equipment works less well with zoning, so we may suggest pairing it with a replacement.

02How many zones does a house need?

Most homes do well with two or three. We base it on floors, sun exposure and how you use the rooms.

03Is multi-zone ductless better than ducted zoning?

Not always. Ductless gives the most control per room. Ducted zoning keeps the look of the house unchanged. We price both when both make sense.
